Garena’s support for Gameseed 2024 also coincides with the celebration of National Game Day 2024. Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno emphasized that the second edition of Gameseed aims to enhance the knowledge and experience of game industry professionals.
The goal is to enable them to create games that resonate with the market and develop sustainable game studios capable of competing both nationally and internationally.

The GYC Free Fire tournament is part of the Garena Goes to School (GGTS) initiative. Which has been ongoing since 2017. Last year, the competition took place in 72 cities across Indonesia, and this year the number has increased to 82 cities.

“As an initiative that encourages students to balance their education and esports pursuits. GYC 2024 Free Fire has specific academic requirements for all participants,” Garena stated in their press release.
Similar to last year, all participants must have a minimum average report card score of 65 to be eligible to participate. Through this framework, Free Fire encourages students to achieve excellence in both esports and academics.
The esports competition will begin with the City Qualifiers, running from August 19 to October 19, 2024. Each week, the GYC 2024 Free Fire matches will take place offline in 13 to 14 cities hosted by selected schools.
The competition will visit several cities, including Deli Serdang, Padang, Semarang, Nganjuk, Pontianak, Singkawang, Bima, Ternate, Makassar, Manado, and Jayapura.
The top Free Fire teams from each City Qualifier will advance to the Region Qualifier. Which will be held from November 5 to 28, 2024. In this stage, the best teams from multiple cities will be group into 12 regions. Covering areas from Sumatra to Papua and Maluku. This stage will determine the final school teams, as only one team from each region will qualify for the Grand Finals. Which will take place in Jakarta in December 2024.
